Please reach out to us at hello@thepostpartumpsychologist.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The Postpartum Psychologist offers antenatal and postnatal psychological wellbeing and matrescence support for mothers who are struggling with the transition to motherhood and return-to-work. This is delivered through online education workshops and programmes and is self-help in nature. It is for information and education purposes only. It is not group therapy and it is not a substitute for individual therapy or support.
The Postpartum Psychologist also provides confidential one-to-one matrescence coaching or psychological therapy tailored to your specific circumstances.
Please contact hello@thepostpartumpsychologist.com if you would like to arrange a free 15-minute call to see if we can help.
Please note that we do not provide advice on feeding your baby, your baby's sleep or general parenting advice.
The online courses are not equivalent to individualised psychological support or therapy. They are not group therapy. They are for education and information purposes only. However, it is our hope that you find some therapeutic benefit in attending the online courses (either "live" or through catching up on replay in your own time). Sometimes all we need is some specialist knowledge to enlighten and empower us on our motherhood journey, to validate our experience and lighten our mental load. This can be enough to guide us on our way. This is the aim of the online courses.
Sometimes we do need a bit of extra guidance - and tailored, bespoke support in our motherhood journey can also be really helpful. This is where one-to-one matrescence coaching or psychological therapy come in.
Matrescence coaching and psychological therapy involve developing a one-to-one coaching or therapeutic relationship in a confidential, safe, compassionate, supportive and non-judgemental online space. It will include an assessment and matrescence-informed psychological formulation (or understanding) of your difficulties, along with recommendations of potential ways in which The Postpartum Psychologist can help. Recommendations might include coaching you through matrescence support tools and/or evidence-based psychological therapy, depending on your goals, wishes and what we are able to offer. We would agree to meet on a regular basis to help you work towards your coaching or therapy goals. If you attend for psychological therapy we will ideally meet on a weekly or a fortnightly basis.
Yes! Services provided by The Postpartum Psychologist (online courses and one-to-one support) aim to support all mothers who are struggling with the transition to motherhood - whether they are 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 12 months or 2 years+ postpartum. Once postpartum, always postpartum!
You are welcome, however many children you have, whatever their ages. Becoming a mother for the second, third, fourth, fifth etc time may come with its own adjustment challenges. For example, you've never been a mother to two children before; or you've never had a baby at home and also a baby in childcare/school at the same time before. Your motherhood journey is unique to you.
Currently, we provide antenatal one-to-one matrescence coaching to help prepare you for your motherhood journey.
We offer free 15-minute consultation calls to discuss the kind of information or support you are looking for and how The Postpartum Psychologist's services would be able to help you with this. If you're more likely to benefit from approaches outwith the remit of this service, this will be discussed with you, including where to access more appropriate sources of support, if applicable.
Should you require additional support for your psychological or physical health, please contact your General Practitioner or appropriately qualified health professional in the first instance. Further sources of support can also be found here.
One-to-one matrescence coaching and psychological therapy sessions are £130 per 60-minute session.
The cost of the online courses will be advertised when they are available to purchase.
